Sienna Miller wins against paparazzi

Actress Sienna Miller today won a High Court order against a photographer who snapped photographs of her undressing during the filming of her latest movie, Hippie Hippie Shake.

Miller, 26, who has already won a £37,500 payout from News Group Newspapers and the Xposure together with an undertaking not to use the pictures again, took action against photographer Warren Richardson over the snaps, taken on the film's closed set on a private estate in Surrey.

Representing her in her privacy claim at London's High Court today, David Sherborne told Mr Justice Eady that Ms Miller was "extremely distressed" by the "highly intrusive" pictures of her removing her clothes and entering a lake.

Arguing that Richardson had no possible defense to the claim for invasion of privacy and breach of confidence, he said they were taken without her consent using a long lens.

He continued:

Her distress was further aggravated, not only by the flagrant disregard of her rights, but the context in which the photos were taken - the constant climate of harassment and intrusiveness which she has had to suffer, particularly from the paparazzi in frightening and relentless attempts to get photos of her, exceeding what could possibly be expected to be tolerated, even given her high profile as an actress.

The judge ruled that it was "entirely appropriate" to make the orders sought against Richardson, who represented himself. He will now have to hand over the photos to Ms Miller.

Mr Richardson may have to pay damages, to be assessed at a later date, and was ordered to foot the bill for the costs of the hearing within four months.
