The ‘Girlfriend’ rocker filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office last December, the first step to launching her own cosmetic label.
Avril Lavigne applied for a patent for: “Fragrances and perfumery, aftershave, pre-shave, bath oil, bath soap, shower gel, body shampoo, deodorant for personal use, tissues impregnated with cosmetic lotions, bath crystals, bath milks, dusting powder, body lotion, body splash, body cream, hand lotion and talc.”
Avril Lavigne is the latest in a long line of celebrities to release their own fragrance. Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Kate Moss have successfully created their own scents. In 2006, celebrity fragrances were the fastest-growing segment of the $2.9 billion US perfume market.
